TTC Timeline

Lots of blogs have these "timelines" on the side, but I figured I would give that information it's own page. You may call that "organized", I just call it "pleasures of OCD"...another wonderful trait I inherited from my Pop.

Here we go!

September 2009 - Married & we throw out the BCP's for GOOD (not charting or using LH tests...just thinking it will happen!)

August 2010 - Meet with OBGYN. Inform her that we're officially trying to conceive. She says, "Use the ovulation kits and only come back (within a year) if you're not ovulating. It takes normal, healthy couples 12-18 months to conceive. If nothing happens in a year, come back and see me.

August 2011 - September 2011 - Return appointment with the news that I was ovulating, cause I had a period every month, but no positive results... OB sends Hubs and I out for tests:

  • HSG: All clear!
  • Pelvic Ultrasound: Polycystic ovaries.
  • Sperm Analysis: Fantastic!
  • Bloodwork: High Androgen levels.

October 2011 - Diagnosed with PCOS. Plan of action discussed to stimulate the ovaries by use of Femara or Clomid. Waiting for next period to begin.

November 2011 - Round 1 with 5mg of Femara. No ultrasound (due to Pop's passing and out of town). Progesterone test shows ovulation did not occur. Provera to bring on period.

December 2011 - Round 2 with 5mg of Femara. Ultrasound shows no follicle growth. Immediately jump to...

January 2012 - Round 3 with 100mg of Clomid. Ultrasound shows WAY OVER stimulation. 8-10 follicles (5 mature, 4 close behind). Doctor strongly advises us to use protection. Sure thing Doc!

February 2012 - Round 4 with 50mg of Clomid. Response still a bit high, but ok to proceed (3 mature follicles, 1 close behind). Ovidrel trigger shot - BFN (big fat negative).

March 2012 - Round 5 with 50mg of Clomid. Monitoring ultrasound shows resistance to Clomid, only 1 mature follicle; none close behind. Ovidrel trigger shot - BFN.

April 2012 - Round 6 with 75mg of Clomid. No ultrasound. No trigger shot. Timed Intercourse - BFN.

*Break until September. We get my stepson in June and need to clear our heads in the meantime.*

September 2012 - Official move to Reproductive Endocrinologist (Dr. Awesome) who orders the following tests:
  • 2 hour Glucose Test: Passed. Not insulin resistant. (Take THAT PCOS)
  • Thyroid: Totally fine.
  • Some Other Blood Test I forget: passed.
September/October 2012 - 1st IUI commences. Start with 75mg of Clomid. Response is utter crap. Begin injections on cycle day 9 (150IU then 3 shots of 75IU). Return ultrasound on cycle day 13 to see growth.

10/08 - Growth is good! 4 mature follicles! IUI scheduled for 10/11/12
10/11 - 1st IUI is complete! Painful as heck, but worth it :) Now entering the infamous, Two Week Wait.
10/27 - At home pregnancy tests (3 of them) show positive! We're pregnant!
10/28 - First beta is 575!
10/30 - Second beta is 1075!!

November 2012

11/9 - First ultrasound shows 2 babies! No heartbeats yet.
11/14 - Still 2 babies! Heartbeats are seen! Graduate from RE to OBGYN!! We're really pregnant!!
